What is Red & Cyan?
Sunday, 31 May 2009
As filming finally starts Sunday 7th June, I thought I’d try and put down some of my ideas behind Red & Cyan. Written in three days (pretty quick for me as my feature film screenplay took over a year!), Red & Cyan evolved as I wrote. I had no clear cut idea what would happen. I wrote and let the words take me where they will.
Red and Cyan is inspired by Alice in Wonderland and Red Riding hood. A modern day tale of an innocent descending in a dark murky world where nothing makes sense.
Red is Ross, Rosso being the word for red; or could it also stand for blood? Could be that too...
Cyan is for the girl that wants to escape, but for reasons unclear, she can’t. The mask has significance, the animal shape is no accident.
Red & Cyan, being a short film, is just a glimpse into another realm of London that we can only have nightmares about. Enjoy.
